We pour the kind of espresso that makes regulars skip their second cup — because one at The Upside Bar is always enough. Day or night, this is where Upper Manhattan comes to slow down.
The Upside Bar wasn't born from a business plan — it was born from a frustration. Our founders, fellow Upper West Side residents, were tired of choosing between a café that took coffee seriously and a bar that took hospitality seriously. So they built both.
Every morning, we source single-origin beans from roasters who treat their craft like art. By evening, the same space transforms — the espresso machine steps aside for a cocktail program built on house-made syrups, fresh juices, and spirits you'd actually want to drink at home.
No pretension. No performance. Just a room full of people who know that the best hours of the day happen between 7 AM and midnight.
High ceilings, exposed brick, and lighting calibrated to feel like golden hour at any hour. We designed this room to be somewhere you actually want to linger — whether you're working, reading, or watching the evening unfold.
Our baristas know your order before you do. Our servers remember your name. This isn't scripted hospitality — it's the result of treating every person who walks through our door like they matter, because they do.
We'd rather close early than serve a drink we're not proud of. Every pour, every plate, every interaction is held to a standard that would make our neighbors proud — and keep them coming back.
Whether you're planning an event, have a dietary question, or just want to tell us about your favorite pour — we read every message and reply within 24 hours.
Thanks for reaching out. We'll get back to you within 24 hours — usually much sooner.
